"Stop dreaming so big. Quit asking God for so much. That’s too demanding of Him. Don’t get so hopeful. You don’t want all your eggs in one basket, you know...”
Things I’ve quietly told myself mentally after talking to God. Things I’ve gotten up and second guessed. Things that made me want to slow it down, ask for less, stop talking so much, quit praying all the time…
STOP. I’m doing myself NO favors. I’m doing my God no justice. I know my God’s potential and I know as a follower of Christ I have that potential in me when I call upon Him. He cares and He listens. No matter the request. No matter the conversation. No matter the time, place, or list I bring before Him. He is on my side.
The same God a 90 year old woman named Sarah begged for a baby is the God I pray to.
The same God that put a man, and took that same man, out of a whale unharmed is the God I pray to.
That SAME GOD is the God who bends His ears down from Heaven to listen to the simple or most outrageous words coming from little me.
No more censoring dreams. No more tiptoeing around my Father. No more, “let’s not rock the boat, He already did this and this in 2018 so I better slow my roll in 2019”...
Because you know what that does? That downplays our God. That displays little faith. I refuse to downplay when I’m on God’s team.
Why would you keep it in for yourself? Why would you struggle alone? He tells us plainly and simply, in James, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (5:16).
So you go out there and you pray the biggest dreams your heart and mind can muster up. You let God do the rest. He’ll work it out just for today. You don’t know HOW He’s gonna answer your prayers. You don’t know WHEN, WHERE, WITH WHOM, just get out there and pray.
Stop telling yourself it’s too big. It’s too unrealistic. And instead tell the devil, the author and feeder of those negative thoughts who’s mission is to keep us away from relying on, conversing with, and believing in the potential of the ONE TRUE GOD… “Watch my God. Watch His power. Watch my faith in what He can do."
If you’re not scared or intimidated by the potential God can use through you, then the devil sure isn’t either. If your dreams aren’t scaring you, they sure aren’t scaring the devil.
No prayer is too big. No ask is too demanding. No conversation is too silly for an all sovereign, reigning God. Pray without ceasing. Pray continually. Pray, pray, pray… because He is always listening.
Because the only good, helpful idea for a crazy, outlandish, extreme dream or decision is to simply speak to the One who already knows all and reigns over all. Get to praying.
